St. John of San Francisco Men’s Chorale
The St. John of San Francisco Men’s Chorale is a resident choir of the Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco. The choir is named after St. John (Maximovich) of Shanghai and San Francisco, whose relics rest in the Holy Virgin Cathedral. The sixteen member choir, under the direction of Nicholas Kotar, is comprised of both clergy and laity of the Western American Archdiocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
The choir’s repertoire of sacred chant spans the musical tradition of the Russian Church from the 17th to the 21st centuries and can be heard on their recently released CD titled “Rejoice in Song.” The repertoire of this recording includes hymns from Great Lent, Pascha, the All-Night Vigil and the Divine Liturgy. The CD is sung in church Slavonic and retails for $18. Wholesale discounts are available. For more information or ordering, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
